We are thrilled to announce that the POLLEN24 Conference – Call for Papers is officially out! The Conference is set to take place between 10-12 June 2024 and will be held simultaneously across three locations in Lima (Peru), Dodoma (Tanzania) and Lund (Sweden). You can find information about the CfP and Conference below.

Call for papers

We encourage the submission of individual articles, paper panels, debates, art, and other creative interventions in collaboration between academics, activists, and artists alike. We invite single-site panel proposals, as well as hybrid proposals, where panel participants are located at two or three of the conference centers.

Go to this link to find the conference center-specific calls for papers and access to the portal where you can submit your ideas (Spanish version is also available). The format gives guidance on papers and paper-based panels, but feel free to submit any other intervention and describe what you intend with it and what activities you foresee taking place. We will have 90-minute slots at all three sites, so when thinking about your submission, keep that in mind.

Deadline:  December 15th, 2023.

Conference Theme: Towards Plural and Just Futures

The 2024 theme conference calls for transdisciplinary research covering a variety of theories, approaches, and case studies. We particularly encourage critical reflections on the ties between epistemic injustice, colonialism, racism, sexism, and other forms of social discrimination. By addressing these interconnections, the conference seeks to provide a platform for intercultural and transnational dialogues and solidarities between researchers and activists to promote decolonial futures based on mutualism and cooperation. With this focus, POLLEN24 aims not only to challenge dominant epistemological paradigms but to advance a pluralization of knowledge and practice within political ecology.

One conference, three locations

The POLLEN24 Conference will be held simultaneously across three different locations: Lima (Peru), Dodoma (Tanzania), and Lund (Sweden). By hosting a multi-site hybrid conference, we hope to engage with political ecologists from distant locations, offering the best of both in-person and virtual experiences.

Additional information:

We expect to be able to share a complete program for the conference early in 2024. Details for registration will follow. The fee structure will take into account regional economic conditions and seniority of participants, and payments will be handled by local organizers.
